The Nursery, when full has 55 ‘full time equivalent’ places, 23 full time places as well as 16 morning and 16 afternoon places.
There are two parallel classes in the Reception year. Each class has a teacher and teaching assistant. The standard number for admissions is 60 per year group, divided into classes of up to 30 pupils.
Year 1 / Year 2
There are two Year 1 classes and two Year 2 classes. Children in Year 1 and 2 are taught by a class teacher, with additional support from full time Teaching Assistants.
Teaching assistants provides support children for whom English is an additional language. Teaching assistants also lead small group maths sessions, phonics groups and english support groups.
All children from Reception to Year 2 are provided with a free school lunch as part of the ‘Universal Infant Free School Meals’ initiative which offers a choice of cooked meals including a vegetarian option. However, parents/carers of full time Nursery children will need to complete a ‘Free School Meal Eligibility Form’ to check whether or not they will have to pay for lunches as Nursery children are not funded by this scheme. Full time Nursery children who are not eligible for free school meals will be charged £2.25 per meal (£11.25 a week). Children are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle as outlined in our Healthy Food Policy.
Daily fruit & milk
Fruit is provided on a daily basis for all children free of charge. We also encourage children to bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day. Milk is available for all children at lunchtimes.
