Approach to Teaching of Physical Education at St. Bede’s

At St Bede’s, we aim to provide to each and every pupil the opportunity to discover and develop their physical potential through a balanced and developmental programme of activities. We do so in the belief that physical education in a safe, supportive and challenging environment is a vital component in the development of children’s physical and emotional health and well-being. Our curriculum ensures that children receive an engaging and enjoyable physical activity programme preparing them for an active life beyond St Bede’s.

Here at St Bede’s, our children receive regular PE lessons where they have a chance to participate in gymnastics, ball games, racquet sports, athletics and dance. We also have an annual sports day where pupils compete in numerous different athletic events. We aim to ensure that pupils have a positive Physical Education learning experience within an environment where each individual feels successful.

In addition to this, we also hire a specialist PE coach to enrich children’s opportunities at lunchtime. We also run a daily exercise class each morning, to promote physical activity as a positive way to start every day. We believe that active children are happier children and that physical wellbeing promotes engaged learning!
